healing“I have come to believe that ‘fighting this thing’ may not be the thing needed to obtain the desired  results. Although there is no one state of mind that correlates exactly with activating the healing system, a consistent theme in interviews [with exceptional patients who recover against the odds] is acceptance of illness rather than struggle. Acceptance of illness is often part of a larger acceptance of self that represents a significant mental shift, a shift that can initiate transformation of personality and with it the healing of disease.” – Andrew Wiel, MD. “Cast your lot with God and be proved wrong and you may forego certain pleasures and selfish rewards in this life and fade into nothingness at the end. Choose against God and be proved wrong and you will face an eternity of regret. Is it not better to believe in something that is not that to disbelieve in something that is? But the best course is to believe in something that is – the ultimate wager of faith.” – Pascal
